“Life Size” Kenner Han Solo Blaster
This project is equal parts fun and stupid. Fun because, it was just fun. Stupid because, why would anyone want to make this? That said – I am just stupid enough to want this to exist in the world…. And awwwwaaaaaay we go!

Being a lifelong Star Wars collector, I know there are PLENTY of “Life Size” Han Solo blasters out there – Ranging from 20$ toys, to screen accurate replicas ranging in the hundreds of dollars! However, no one has made a big version of the small, 3/4 inch gun that the 1978 Han Solo Kenner figure holds – Until now!

This project was really simple. The basic design of the gun is, well, basic – and only took 30 minutes to render in 3D, where I scaled it up from 3/4 of an inch, to a foot long.

A few minutes after I finished the model, I exported it as an OBJ file and sent it to a friend of mine who is a wizard with extrusion style 3D printing. 4 days after I 3D modeled it, this print showed up at my door (Next to a Kenner Han Solo figure for scale)

Due to the limitations of the printer, the gun had to be broken in half to print, hence the split – Easy enough to fix with some putty and sandpaper.
Sanding this thing was a BEAST! The fine print lines take forever to completely remove, and I cheated a bit by just spraying multiple coats of glossy paint over the gun until the lines vanished.

A few coats of Glossy dark “Kenner Blue” spray paint and this was done! Now if I ever want to be a vintage Han Solo figure for Halloween, I’ll be well armed!
